The Urban Assembly is a non-profit organization that has created and manages a community of small New York City public schools dedicated to preparing students from under-resourced neighborhoods for success in college. The UA's instructional support, college planning office and professional partnerships provide students with the academic and life skills necessary not just for high school graduation, or even college admission, but for four-year college completion. The Urban Assembly comprised just four high schools in 2003 and, working with Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the New York City Department of Education, has grown to 21 middle and high schools, many of which are located in the most underserved areas of The Bronx, Brooklyn and Manhattan. In the 2010-2011 school year, the UA is serving more than 8,100 students.
